The VALUE COLLECTION 315-1580 is a round threading die designed to cut external threads on rod, bolt stock, and fastener blanks. Built from high-speed steel (HSS), the die maintains cutting hardness under the heat generated during threading operations. It cuts a 1-1/2-8 UNS right-hand thread profile and features an adjustable design that allows minor diameter compensation to account for tool wear or to fine-tune thread fit. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians use this type of die for thread repair and new thread production in both shop and field settings.
This die is suited for threading mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar machinable materials at the 1-1/2-8 UNS thread standard. The 1-1/2-8 designation indicates a 1.5-inch nominal diameter with 8 threads per inch, a coarse-pitch configuration commonly found in heavy fasteners, pipe fittings, and structural hardware. The adjustable feature makes it practical for both production runs and one-off thread repair jobs where precise fit tolerance matters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement round die for use in standard round die stocks sized to accept 1-1/2-inch nominal threading dies.
Threading dies are installed and driven by a matching round die stock or die holder — confirm the die stock is sized for this die before use. Secure the workpiece firmly in a vise before applying the die. Apply cutting oil liberally to the work and die to reduce heat and extend tool life. Back off the die periodically during threading to break chips and prevent binding.
