The VALUE COLLECTION 315-1253 is a round threading die designed to cut external threads on round stock, bolts, and fasteners. Made from high-speed steel, this die holds its edge through repeated use on steel, stainless, aluminum, and other common shop materials. It is sized for 5/8-20 thread — 5/8 inch nominal diameter at 20 threads per inch — following the UNS thread standard. The adjustable design allows the cutting diameter to be fine-tuned to achieve proper thread fit and to compensate for die wear over time. This die is intended for use in a standard round die stock or holder and is suited for manual or bench-top threading operations performed by machinists, pipe fitters, and maintenance technicians.
This die is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where field-cut or custom-length threaded fasteners are needed. It produces right-hand threads, which is the standard direction for the vast majority of mechanical fastener applications. Typical use cases include rethreading damaged fasteners, cutting threads on new rod stock, and repair threading on equipment components.
Designed for use with standard round die stocks and holders that accept the appropriate die outside diameter. Cuts UNS right-hand threads at 5/8-20 on compatible workpiece materials.
Threading dies are installed and operated by machinists and maintenance technicians familiar with manual threading procedures. Secure the workpiece in a vise before threading. Apply a cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to reduce heat and improve thread finish. Do not force the die; back off periodically to clear chips and prevent binding or breakage.
