The VALUE COLLECTION 314590BR is a heavy hex nut designed for high-strength bolted assemblies in structural, industrial, and mechanical applications. Manufactured from A194 Grade 2H steel with a bright uncoated finish, this nut meets the dimensional and material requirements of ASME B18.2.2 and thread standard ASME B1.1. The 1-3/4-5 UNC right-hand thread and 2B fit class make it suitable for use with corresponding heavy hex bolts and threaded rod in demanding load-bearing connections. With a hardness range of 95 HRB to 35 HRC, this nut is built to handle elevated stress conditions common in structural steel, pressure vessel, and piping flange work. Pipefitters, millwrights, and structural ironworkers are the typical installers.
This heavy hex nut is used in commercial and industrial settings where standard hex nuts are insufficient for the applied loads or flange face widths. Common applications include bolted flange connections, structural steel framing, pressure vessel assembly, and heavy equipment mounting. The larger across-flats dimension of 2-3/4 inches provides more bearing surface than a standard hex nut of the same thread size, distributing clamping force more evenly across mating surfaces. It is sold individually, making it practical for single-unit replacement needs on maintenance and repair jobs.
Designed as an OEM-style heavy hex nut for use with 1-3/4-5 UNC threaded fasteners and rod in structural, pressure vessel, and industrial piping flange assemblies requiring A194 Grade 2H material compliance.
Installation is performed by licensed pipefitters, structural ironworkers, or millwrights depending on the application. Power down or depressurize the system before servicing any bolted flange or pressure-bearing connection. Use calibrated torque tooling appropriate for the bolt diameter and joint specification — consult the applicable ASME, AISC, or project engineering specification for target torque values. Do not mix thread standards or fit classes on a single fastener assembly.
