The VALUE COLLECTION 314-4740 is an adjustable round die designed to cut M16x2 left-hand external threads on metal stock. Made from high-speed steel (HSS), it delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for production threading in a machine shop or field maintenance environment. The die follows the metric coarse thread standard and measures 0.5 inches in thickness, making it compatible with standard round die stocks of the appropriate size. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians use this die when a left-hand thread is specified by design or application requirement.
This die is suited for threading M16x2 left-hand metric coarse profiles on bolts, studs, rods, and fasteners in applications where reverse-thread fastening is required — such as rotating assemblies, turnbuckles, or anti-loosening mechanisms. The adjustable design allows minor pitch diameter adjustment to achieve a precise thread fit or to compensate for tool wear over time. Appropriate for use in manual die stocks in both shop and field settings.
Designed for use with round die stocks that accept the corresponding die diameter for M16x2 metric coarse threading. Intended for machining and maintenance applications requiring left-hand external thread cutting.
This die is installed and secured in a matching round die stock before use. Secure the die evenly using the set screws on the die stock before beginning the threading pass. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend die life and improve thread quality. Inspect the workpiece diameter against the M16 nominal major diameter specification before threading to avoid overloading the die.
