The VALUE COLLECTION 31320 is a size 4 split lock washer manufactured from Grade 5 steel with a zinc-plated finish. Split lock washers are used to resist loosening of threaded fasteners under vibration and dynamic loads. The helical split design creates spring tension as the fastener is torqued down, biting into both the mating surface and the fastener bearing face to maintain clamp load. At 0.209 inches thick with an inside diameter range of 0.114 to 0.12 inches and a maximum outside diameter of 0.209 inches, this washer is sized for use with number 4 machine screws. The zinc-plated finish provides basic corrosion resistance for general indoor and light-duty applications. Electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and general mechanical tradespeople use split lock washers in panel assembly, equipment mounting, and component fastening tasks.
This washer is suited for light-duty fastening applications across residential and commercial settings. Typical uses include securing electrical junction box covers, HVAC control board mounting hardware, panel components, and similar small-fastener assemblies where vibration or thermal cycling could otherwise allow a fastener to back out over time. The inch-system sizing and Grade 5 material make it compatible with standard number 4 threaded fasteners found throughout HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment enclosures.
Designed for use with number 4 machine screws in inch-system threaded fastener assemblies. Suitable as a standard split lock washer replacement in general mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing equipment applications.
Install split lock washers between the fastener bearing face and the mating surface before seating the screw or bolt. Ensure the fastener and washer are properly aligned before applying torque to avoid misseating the helical coil. Power down and de-energize any electrical equipment before accessing interior fastener locations. Follow applicable NEC or equipment manufacturer guidelines when working inside electrical enclosures or control panels.
