The VALUE COLLECTION 312-8930 is a Size 10 spiral flute screw extractor designed to remove broken, stripped, or seized screws and fasteners in the 2-1/8 to 2-1/2 inch range. The left-hand spiral flute design bites into the damaged fastener as reverse torque is applied, drawing it out without damaging the surrounding material. At 5 inches overall length, this extractor provides sufficient reach for deep-set fasteners encountered in mechanical, plumbing, and general maintenance work. It is a standard hand-tool item used by plumbers, pipefitters, machinists, and maintenance technicians across commercial and industrial settings.
This extractor is suited for removing broken fasteners in residential and commercial applications wherever large-diameter screws or threaded pipe fittings have seized or sheared. The compatible screw size range of 2-1/8 to 2-1/2 inches also covers 1-1/4 inch NPT and 1-1/4 inch BSP threaded pipe connections, as well as metric fasteners in the M52 to M68 range. It is a practical addition to a field kit for plumbers dealing with stuck pipe fittings or machinists working on heavy equipment fasteners.
Designed for use with broken or seized screws and fasteners in the 2-1/8 to 2-1/2 inch size range, including 1-1/4 inches NPT, 1-1/4 inches BSP, and M52 to M68 metric fasteners.
Screw extractors are typically used by machinists, plumbers, and pipefitters working on mechanical or pipe assemblies. Before attempting extraction, drill a pilot hole into the center of the broken fastener using the appropriate bit size for a Size 10 extractor. Insert the extractor and apply steady counterclockwise torque using a tap wrench or appropriately sized chuck. Do not apply excessive side-load or hammer the extractor, as spiral flute extractors can fracture under shock loading and become more difficult to remove than the original fastener.
