The VALUE COLLECTION 30648 is a 3/8-24 hex lock nut with a nylon insert locking mechanism, manufactured from Grade 316 stainless steel. The nylon insert creates interference with the mating thread to resist loosening caused by vibration and torque. At 29/64 inches in height with a 9/16-inch width across flats, this nut follows standard inch-series fastener geometry. Grade 316 stainless steel provides strong resistance to corrosion, making this nut appropriate for wet, marine, chemical-exposure, and outdoor environments. Sold in a package quantity of 50, this nut is suited for plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals working with corrosion-resistant hardware.
This nylon insert lock nut is used in applications where fastener loosening due to vibration or dynamic load is a concern. The right-hand thread direction is standard for the majority of mechanical assemblies. Grade 316 stainless steel is a common choice in pool and spa equipment, marine hardware, coastal HVAC installations, chemical processing, and food-service environments where chloride or moisture exposure is likely. The 3/8-24 fine-thread pitch offers greater thread engagement per inch compared to coarse thread, making it suitable for assemblies requiring precise tensioning.
Designed for use with 3/8-24 UNC inch-series threaded fasteners and bolts in standard right-hand thread assemblies requiring a nylon insert hex lock nut.
Installation is performed using a standard hex wrench or socket sized to 9/16 inches across flats. Power down or depressurize any system before servicing fasteners on live mechanical assemblies. Nylon insert lock nuts are generally intended for single use, as the nylon insert loses clamping interference after removal and should not be reused in critical joints. Follow applicable mechanical codes and manufacturer torque guidelines for the specific assembly being serviced.
