The VALUE COLLECTION 30587 is a partially threaded hex head cap screw designed for general mechanical fastening applications requiring corrosion resistance. Sized at 5/16-18 UNC thread with a 2-inch length under the head, this fastener is manufactured from Grade 316 stainless steel and left uncoated. The 316 alloy provides strong resistance to chlorides and oxidizing environments, making it a reliable choice where standard carbon steel or 304 stainless would be inadequate. Installation is straightforward with standard hex tooling. This fastener is suitable for use by millwrights, pipefitters, HVAC installers, plumbers, and maintenance technicians working in corrosive or wet environments.
This cap screw is well suited for use in marine, coastal, chemical processing, food service, pool equipment, and outdoor mechanical assemblies where moisture and corrosive agents are present. Partial threading provides a smooth shank section that can be used as a bearing surface or to clamp materials without thread engagement across the full grip length. Applications include equipment panel assembly, pipe bracket mounting, pump housing fastening, and general structural connections requiring a high-corrosion-resistance fastener in inch sizing.
Designed as a standard inch-series hex head cap screw compatible with any 5/16-18 UNC tapped hole or matching hex nut in residential, commercial, or industrial fastening applications.
This fastener is installed using a standard 1/2-inch hex wrench or socket. Ensure mating threads are clean and free of debris before assembly. When torquing stainless steel fasteners, apply an appropriate anti-galling compound such as a nickel-based anti-seize to reduce the risk of thread galling, which is common with 300-series stainless alloys. Do not use impact drivers without torque control, as stainless fasteners are susceptible to thread damage under uncontrolled high-speed installation.
