The VALUE COLLECTION 28630 is a single-body countersink designed for creating flush-seating conical recesses in metal, wood, and composite materials. Machined from high speed steel (HSS), it delivers reliable edge retention across repeated use in production or maintenance environments. The 82-degree included angle matches the standard seating angle for flat-head machine screws and fasteners used throughout general fabrication and assembly work. With six flutes, the tool produces a smooth, chatter-resistant finish on the countersunk surface. The 1/2-inch shank fits standard drill press chucks and handheld drill drivers commonly found in machine shops, metalworking facilities, and maintenance departments.
This countersink is suited for use in metal fabrication, sheet metal work, woodworking, and general mechanical assembly where flat-head fasteners must seat flush with or below the material surface. The 82-degree angle is a widely specified geometry for imperial flat-head screw applications. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, maintenance technicians, and skilled tradespeople working with drill presses, milling machines, or hand drills. The 3/4-inch head diameter accommodates a practical range of fastener sizes in light to medium stock.
Designed as a general-purpose HSS countersink for use in drill presses, milling machines, and handheld drills with a 1/2 inch or larger chuck capacity. Suitable for flat-head fastener applications requiring an 82-degree seat angle.
Secure the 1/2 inch shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when countersinking hardened or stainless steel to extend tool life. Run at reduced RPM compared to standard twist-drill speeds to minimize heat buildup and chatter. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and discontinue use if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
