The VALUE COLLECTION 28605 is a single-flute countersink designed to produce clean, chamfered screw seats in metal and other workpiece materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS), it delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for repetitive drilling operations in production and maintenance environments. The 82-degree included angle matches the standard for flat-head fasteners used in most machined and fabricated assemblies. With a 5/8-inch head diameter and a 3/8-inch shank diameter, this countersink fits a wide range of drill presses, milling machines, and hand drills equipped with a compatible chuck. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This countersink is suited for light to medium countersinking tasks on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials. The single-flute design reduces chatter and produces a smoother finish compared to multi-flute alternatives, making it a practical choice for precision work where surface quality in the countersunk seat matters. It is appropriate for job shop, maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) environments where a reliable, general-purpose countersink is needed without a large capital investment.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink for use with drill presses, milling machines, and hand drills accepting a 3/8-inch shank. Suitable for countersinking flat-head fastener seats to an 82-degree included angle in metal, plastic, and composite workpieces.
Secure the 3/8-inch shank firmly in a properly rated chuck before operation. Run at appropriate spindle speeds for the workpiece material — lower speeds are recommended for harder metals to preserve cutting edge life. Apply cutting fluid when countersinking steel to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the tool if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
