The VALUE COLLECTION 27700 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations that demand heat and wear resistance beyond what standard high-speed steel tooling provides. Built from M42 cobalt steel, this double-end mill features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree right-hand helix. The bright/uncoated finish is suited for applications where coating adhesion or thermal conductivity is a consideration. With a 3/8 inch shank diameter and an overall length of 3-1/16 inches, this tool fits standard collet chucks used by machinists and toolroom operators working on close-tolerance features.
This end mill is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where cobalt tooling provides a performance advantage over standard M2 HSS. The regular-length classification and compact cutting diameter make it well suited for mold work, die work, and small-part machining on manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and bench-top mills. The double-end configuration allows the operator to index to the second cutting end once the first end reaches the end of its useful life, extending tool life per unit.
Designed as a standard 3/8 inch shank square end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and tool-holding systems that accept a 3/8 inch straight shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully de-energized and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped in the holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before starting the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges prior to use; cobalt tooling with visible chipping or wear should not be returned to service. This tool is not center-cutting and should not be used for direct plunge operations.
