The VALUE COLLECTION 262-4048 is an expanding lathe arbor designed to hold workpieces securely on a lathe spindle during turning, boring, and finishing operations. With a 0.75 inch face diameter and a 4 inch overall length (OAL), this arbor expands internally to grip the bore of a workpiece, eliminating the need for chucks or collets in many setups. It is a common toolroom and production accessory installed by machinists and tool and die professionals on manual and CNC lathes. The compact 4 inch OAL suits a range of small-to-medium workpiece bores.
This expanding lathe arbor is suited for light to medium turning operations in job shops, toolrooms, and maintenance machine shops. It is appropriate for workpieces that require consistent concentricity between the bore and the outer diameter. Applications include gear blanks, bushings, sleeves, and similar cylindrical parts where outside-diameter turning must run true to a pre-machined bore. The 0.75 inch face diameter targets small-bore workpieces common in precision machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard toolroom arbor for manual and CNC lathes that accept expanding-style workholding arbors with a 0.75 inch face diameter.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Before mounting the arbor, power down and lock out the lathe spindle per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify the arbor shank is clean and seated fully before tightening the expansion mechanism to avoid runout. Do not exceed the rated bore range of the arbor, as over-expansion can damage both the arbor and the workpiece bore.
