The VALUE COLLECTION 262-2056 is a standard lathe mandrel designed to hold workpieces securely during turning operations. The mandrel features a 7/8-inch face diameter and an overall length of 6.5 inches, making it suited for precision work on a manual or engine lathe. Machinists and toolroom technicians use mandrels like this one to mount bored or drilled workpieces between centers so the outside diameter can be turned concentric to the bore. The 262-2056 ships as a single unit and is a straightforward toolroom consumable for job shops and maintenance machining operations.
This mandrel is intended for use in metal-turning applications where a workpiece with an existing bore must be held between lathe centers. Typical applications include finishing the outside diameter of bushings, gears, collars, and similar cylindrical components. It is a standard-pattern mandrel appropriate for general-purpose lathe work in production shops, apprentice training environments, and maintenance machining settings. A single unit is included per package.
Designed as a standard-pattern lathe mandrel for use with manual engine lathes and toolroom lathes that accept between-center workholding of this face diameter range.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with between-center lathe operations. Before mounting, ensure the lathe is fully powered down and the spindle is locked. The mandrel should be pressed or driven into the workpiece bore with appropriate fit — never force-fit a mandrel that is oversized for the bore, as this can damage the workpiece or the mandrel. Verify center holes at both ends of the mandrel are clean and undamaged before seating in lathe centers.
