The VALUE COLLECTION 251100PR is a military specification oversized dowel pin designed for precision alignment and fastening applications in industrial, tooling, and mechanical assembly work. Manufactured from alloy steel and heat treated to a hardness of 50-58 HRC, this pin delivers reliable shear resistance in demanding service environments. It measures 1/8 inch in diameter and 1 inch in overall length, with a diameter tolerance of 0.0010 inches for consistent, close-tolerance fit. One end is beveled and one end is rounded, which aids insertion and reduces the risk of bore damage during assembly. Installation is typically handled by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working with precision-fit components.
This dowel pin is suited for use in jigs, fixtures, dies, and machine assemblies where accurate part location and repeat positioning are required. The oversized designation means the pin is intentionally manufactured above standard nominal diameter to provide a controlled interference fit in worn or reworked bores. It is appropriate for both original equipment manufacturing and field repair scenarios requiring a tighter-than-standard fit. The alloy steel construction and military specification rating make it suitable for applications where standard commercial dowel pins do not meet load or dimensional requirements.
Designed as an oversized replacement dowel pin conforming to ASME B18.8.2 for use in jigs, fixtures, dies, and precision mechanical assemblies requiring a controlled interference fit at 1/8 inch nominal bore diameter.
Installation is typically performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using an arbor press or dead-blow mallet. Power down and de-energize all equipment before servicing any assembly containing dowel pins. Inspect the receiving bore for damage or out-of-round condition before pressing the pin into place. Do not use a standard hammer directly on the pin face, as this can damage the end geometry or cause bore galling.
