The VALUE COLLECTION 241472BR is a precision dowel pin designed for accurate part location, alignment, and retention in machined assemblies. Manufactured from Grade 8 alloy steel, this pin measures 1 inch in diameter and 2 inches in overall length. It carries a hardness rating of 50-58 HRC, making it well suited for high-load applications where shear strength and dimensional stability are critical. The breaking strength is rated at 204,000 pounds in double shear. One end is beveled and one end is rounded, allowing straightforward press-fit installation into close-tolerance bored holes. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and mechanical assemblers install this type of pin in production tooling, fixtures, dies, and precision mechanical assemblies.
This dowel pin is appropriate for industrial and manufacturing environments where repeatable, accurate component alignment is required. Typical applications include fixture plates, jig bodies, mold bases, and machine tool components. The 50-58 HRC surface hardness resists wear and deformation under repeated assembly and disassembly cycles. Conformance to ASME B18.8.2 ensures dimensional accuracy and interchangeability with other standard precision dowel pins used in the same class of work.
Designed as a standard precision dowel pin per ASME B18.8.2, suitable for use in machined fixtures, tooling, dies, mold bases, and other mechanical assemblies requiring close-tolerance alignment.
Precision dowel pins are installed by qualified machinists or mechanical assemblers using an arbor press or hydraulic press sized for the interference fit required. De-energize and lock out all machinery before installing or removing dowel pins from live tooling or powered assemblies. Verify bore diameter and surface finish meet ASME B18.8.2 specifications before pressing the pin into position. Never drive a hardened dowel pin with a hammer strike directly to the pin face, as this can damage the end geometry or the bore.
