The VALUE COLLECTION 231-4814 is a 14mm R8 round collet machined from steel for use in milling machines equipped with an R8 spindle taper. It accepts a 7/16-20 drawbar thread and holds a 14mm round shank tooling with a total indicated runout (TIR) of 0.0007 inches, making it suitable for precision milling operations where concentricity matters. This collet is a direct-fit component for Bridgeport-style and compatible knee mills. Installation and tooling changes are performed by machinists and toolroom technicians as part of standard spindle setup.
This collet is intended for use in manual and CNC knee mills, vertical milling machines, and similar machine tools with an R8 spindle. It is commonly used in job shops, toolrooms, and production environments where 14mm round-shank end mills, drill blanks, or similar cutting tools must be held securely. The R8 taper is one of the most widely used spindle interfaces in light-duty milling, and this collet fits that standard interface.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or spare for vertical milling machines with an R8 spindle taper and a standard 7/16-20 drawbar thread.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before changing collets, disengage the spindle drive and ensure the machine is fully powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Insert the collet into the spindle taper, thread the drawbar by hand, and snug it with a wrench while holding the spindle brake engaged. Do not over-tighten the drawbar, as this can deform the collet bore and degrade TIR performance.
