The VALUE COLLECTION 231-4726 is a steel R8 collet designed for use in milling machines equipped with an R8 spindle taper. It accepts a 13/32 inch tool shank and features a 7/16-20 drawbar thread for secure spindle engagement. The collet holds a Total Indicator Runout (TIR) of 0.0007 inches, providing the concentricity required for accurate milling, drilling, and light boring operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on R8 collets as a fast, repeatable method for securing end mills, drill chucks, and other cutting tools in Bridgeport-style vertical mills and similar machines.
This collet is suited for job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments where R8 spindle tooling is standard. The 13/32 inch bore size accommodates common round-shank tooling in that diameter. It is a direct-fit replacement or additional collet for R8 spindle machines and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing applications where runout control is a priority.
Designed as a standard R8 collet replacement or addition for vertical milling machines with an R8 spindle taper and a 7/16-20 drawbar thread.
R8 collets are installed and removed by a licensed machinist or trained shop technician. Always power down and de-energize the machine and lock out the spindle before changing collets. Insert the collet into the spindle bore, align the keyway slot with the spindle drive key, and engage the drawbar thread before tightening. Do not overtighten the drawbar, as this can deform the collet bore and degrade runout performance over time.
