Installation Notes

R8 collets are installed and removed by machinists or maintenance technicians. Before changing tooling, power down the mill and bring the spindle to a complete stop. Insert the collet into the spindle taper, thread the drawbar through the top of the spindle by hand, then tighten with a wrench while holding the spindle brake — do not overtighten or use impact tools on the drawbar. To release, loosen the drawbar a few turns and tap gently to break the taper seat before fully removing.
