The VALUE COLLECTION 230-4453 is a 5C expanding collet machined from steel for use in lathes, collet chucks, and workholding fixtures that accept the 5C collet standard. Expanding collets grip the internal bore of a workpiece rather than the outside diameter, making this collet suitable for second-operation turning, boring, and facing where the outside surface must remain unobstructed. The collet features a 1-1/2 inch head diameter, a 1 inch head length, and a concentricity rating of 0.0020 inches TIR, providing consistent, repeatable workpiece alignment on production runs.
This expanding collet is designed for use in manual and CNC lathes, rotary indexers, and collet-chuck setups where internal gripping is required. The grip range spans 3/4 inch minimum to 1-7/16 inch maximum, accommodating a variety of bore sizes within that window. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this collet type when holding pre-turned or cast parts for secondary operations where chucking on the ID is preferred over the OD.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit collet for machine tools and workholding equipment built to accept the 5C collet standard.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with 5C collet systems. Before seating the collet, ensure the spindle or chuck nose is clean and free of chips or debris that could affect concentricity. Thread the collet into the closer or chuck by hand first, then engage the draw mechanism to the appropriate closing force per the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Never force or impact the collet into the receiver, as this can damage the collet taper or thread form.
