The VALUE COLLECTION 230-4205 is a 5C round collet machined from steel for use in 5C-compatible spindles and collet chucks on lathes, mills, and grinding machines. It features a 1.041 inch-24 internal thread and a 1.242 inch-20 external thread, providing secure, repeatable workholding for round stock. The collet holds a total indicated runout (TIR) of 0.015 mm, making it suitable for precision turning and grinding operations. At 0.6 pounds, it is a standard-weight collet appropriate for high-volume production environments as well as job shop use. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary installers and users of this component.
This 5C round collet is designed for use in any 5C-compatible workholding setup, including manual and CNC lathes, indexers, rotary tables, and collet blocks. It is well suited for holding round bar stock in both light and moderate-duty turning operations. The 5C collet system is one of the most widely adopted standards in metalworking, and this collet fits into that broad ecosystem of compatible spindles and fixtures found in production shops and tool rooms.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or toolroom addition for use with standard 5C collet-compatible spindles, chucks, collet blocks, and indexing fixtures.
5C collets are installed and changed by machinists and tool-room technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing a collet. Inspect the collet bore and spindle taper for chips or debris prior to seating the collet, as contamination will degrade runout performance. Do not overtighten the draw tube beyond the collet manufacturer specifications for the host machine.
