The VALUE COLLECTION 230-4161 is a 5C-style steel collet designed for use in lathes, collet chucks, and collet closers that accept the 5C collet standard. It holds round stock at a nominal size of 61/64 inches with a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0005 inches, making it suitable for precision turning, milling, and grinding operations. The internal thread measures 1.041 inches at 24 threads per inch, and the external thread measures 1.242 inches at 20 threads per inch. Machinists and tool room technicians install this collet when repeatable, concentric workholding is required for production or toolroom work.
This collet is suited for machine shops running production turning operations or precision toolroom work where consistent concentricity and secure round-stock clamping are required. It is appropriate for both manual and CNC lathes configured for the 5C collet system. Typical applications include holding bar stock, pins, shafts, and similar cylindrical workpieces for turning, facing, threading, and secondary operations.
Designed as a standard replacement or additional collet for machine tools equipped with 5C collet spindles, including lathes, collet chucks, and collet closers that accept the 5C standard.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool room technicians. Before inserting or removing any collet, power down the machine and confirm the spindle has come to a complete stop. Inspect the collet bore, spindle nose, and threads for chips, burrs, or damage before seating the collet. Do not force the collet into the closer; clean threads and proper alignment are required for accurate seating and safe operation.
