The VALUE COLLECTION 230-4132 is a 5C round steel collet sized at 1/2 inch, designed for use in lathes, grinding machines, and milling setups that accept the 5C collet system. It holds round workpieces with a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0005 inches, delivering the concentricity required for precision turning and grinding operations. The internal thread measures 1.041 inches at 24 threads per inch, and the external thread measures 1.242 inches at 20 threads per inch. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this collet when tight workholding tolerance is critical to part finish and dimensional accuracy.
This collet is suited for production and job-shop environments where the 5C collet standard is in use. It is appropriate for holding round stock or finished round parts during turning, cylindrical grinding, or secondary operations. At 1/2 inch capacity, it accommodates common stock diameters encountered in precision machining of steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The steel construction provides the durability needed for repeated clamping cycles in industrial settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit collet for machines equipped with the standard 5C collet system, including lathes, indexers, and collet chucks that accept the 5C specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the collet. Inspect the collet, closer, and spindle bore for chips or damage before seating the collet, as debris will degrade runout performance. Do not exceed the rated capacity of the collet or apply side loads beyond the design intent of the 5C system.
