The VALUE COLLECTION 216198MSC is a Grade 8 alloy steel carriage bolt with a 1/2-13 UNC thread and a 3-1/2 inch length under head. Carriage bolts feature a domed head and a square neck that pulls flush into the mating material, preventing the fastener from rotating during installation. The fully threaded shank runs the entire 3-1/2 inch length under head, giving installers maximum threading engagement across the full bolt body. The uncoated bright finish is suitable for applications where a secondary coating or treatment will be applied. Grade 8 alloy steel provides high tensile strength for structural and heavy-duty mechanical fastening work in demanding environments.
This carriage bolt is used in structural assemblies, heavy equipment fabrication, wood-to-metal connections, and general industrial fastening where high-strength hardware is required. The square neck design seats into pre-drilled square holes or pulls into softer materials such as wood, holding the bolt stationary while the nut is driven from the opposite side. It is appropriate for both shop and field assembly work performed by millwrights, ironworkers, equipment mechanics, and general maintenance technicians. Sold in a minimum order quantity of 25 pieces per package.
Designed as a standard 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolt suitable for use with any 1/2-13 threaded nut and appropriate flat or structural washers in wood, metal, or composite assemblies requiring Grade 8 fastener strength.
Installation is performed by inserting the bolt through a pre-drilled clearance hole and pulling the square neck flush against the mating surface before threading the nut from the opposite side. Use a standard open-end or socket wrench on the nut side only — the square neck holds the bolt stationary. Follow applicable structural or equipment manufacturer torque requirements and consult ASME or SAE fastener guidelines for proper clamp load. Inspect threads and seating surfaces for damage before installation.
