The VALUE COLLECTION 214-8146 is a standard Morse taper reducing sleeve designed to adapt an MT6 outside taper to an MT4 inside taper. This type of sleeve allows machinists and toolroom technicians to mount smaller-shank tooling into larger-spindle machines without requiring a separate adapter or a full taper socket change. The sleeve is hardened and ground throughout, providing consistent taper contact and reliable tool holding under cutting loads. With a body diameter of 48 millimeters, an overall length of 355 millimeters, and a 3/8-inch projection, the 214-8146 fits standard reducing sleeve applications on lathes, mills, and drill presses equipped with MT6 spindles.
This reducing sleeve is suited for production and toolroom environments where MT6-spindle machines need to accept MT4-shank tooling such as drill chucks, end mill holders, and boring heads. It is a common requirement in machine shops running older or larger-format equipment where spindle sizes exceed the tooling taper. Licensed machinists and tool and die professionals typically install this sleeve as part of routine tooling setup. The hardened and ground finish supports repeated installation and removal cycles with minimal wear to the taper surfaces.
Designed as an OEM-style reducing sleeve for machine tool spindles with an MT6 bore requiring MT4 tooling shank compatibility.
Power down and lock out the machine spindle before installing or removing the sleeve. Clean both the spindle bore and the sleeve taper surfaces thoroughly to remove chips, oil, and debris before seating the sleeve, as contamination will affect taper contact and tool runout. Drive the sleeve into the spindle with a soft-face mallet or drawbar as appropriate for the machine design. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling heavy tooling components.
