The VALUE COLLECTION 214-8125 is a standard Morse taper reducing sleeve designed to adapt an MT2 inside taper to an MT5 outside taper on drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and similar machine tool spindles. The sleeve is hardened and ground throughout for dimensional accuracy and long service life. Key dimensions include a 30mm body diameter, 247mm overall length, and a 1/4 inch projection. This type of adapter is installed by machinist and toolroom technicians to mount smaller-shank tooling in larger spindle bores without replacing the tooling itself.
Reducing sleeves like the 214-8125 are used in metalworking and machine shop environments where tooling with an MT2 shank must seat into an MT5 spindle or tailstock. Typical applications include drill press spindles, lathe tailstocks, and milling machine quills. The hardened and ground finish ensures consistent seating and minimal runout, which is critical when precision drilling or boring operations are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit reducing sleeve for machine tool spindles and tailstocks accepting an MT5 outside taper with MT2 inside taper tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle completely before inserting or removing any taper sleeve. Clean the spindle bore and sleeve taper surfaces of oil, chips, and debris before seating to ensure full contact and prevent fretting. Use a proper drift or knockout bar through the spindle slot to remove the sleeve — never hammer directly on the tooling or sleeve body.
