The VALUE COLLECTION 214-8024 is a standard Morse taper reducing sleeve designed to adapt an MT2 inside taper to an MT4 outside taper. It allows a smaller-shank toolholder or cutting tool to seat correctly in a larger-taper spindle or tailstock. The sleeve features a soft body with a hardened tang for durability at the drive point. Overall length is 124 millimeters, body diameter is 31.6 millimeters, and the projection measures 0.25 inches. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this sleeve in lathes, drill presses, and milling machines where taper size mismatches require an adapter.
This reducing sleeve is used in machine shop and industrial environments where spindles or tailstocks are bored to an MT4 taper but the toolholder, drill chuck, or live center presents an MT2 shank. It fits both manual and CNC-adjacent setups where Morse taper tooling is standard. The hardened tang engages the spindle drift slot to allow clean tool removal with a knockout bar. Typical applications include lathe tailstock operations, drill press column setups, and secondary spindle tooling configurations.
Designed as a standard OEM-style reducing sleeve for machine tool spindles and tailstocks bored to an MT4 taper that require MT2-shank tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the sleeve. Clean both the sleeve taper and the spindle bore thoroughly before seating to ensure full taper contact and prevent fretting. Use a proper drift bar and soft mallet in the spindle drift slot to remove the sleeve — never use excessive force that could damage the spindle bore.
