The VALUE COLLECTION 214-8012 is a standard Morse taper reducing sleeve designed to adapt an MT1 inside taper to an MT2 outside taper on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. The sleeve is constructed soft with a hardened tang, allowing the tang to withstand the drive and ejection forces typical in machine tool applications. With an overall length of 92 millimeters and a body diameter of 18.6 millimeters, this sleeve provides a 5/8-inch projection. It weighs 0.22 pounds and is suited for use by machinists and tool room technicians who need to run smaller-shank tooling in a larger-spindle machine.
This reducing sleeve is used in metal-cutting environments where a drill, reamer, or other MT1-shank tool must seat into an MT2 spindle or socket. Typical applications include drill press spindles, lathe tailstocks, and milling machine quills configured for MT2. The sleeve allows shops to expand tooling compatibility without replacing spindle arbors or investing in additional toolholders. It is appropriate for general-purpose machine shop use in both production and job-shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement reducing sleeve for machine tool spindles and sockets requiring an MT1 inside taper and MT2 outside taper interface.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool room technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before inserting or removing any taper sleeve. Ensure both the sleeve bore and the spindle socket are clean and free of chips, oil, or burrs before seating to prevent fretting or misalignment. Use a proper drift key inserted through the spindle drift slot to eject the sleeve — never strike the tooling directly to remove it.
