The VALUE COLLECTION 211185PR is a flat socket cap screw designed for flush-mount fastening applications where a low-profile head is required. It features an 82-degree flat head driven by a 3/16-inch hex socket and is fully threaded along its 1-1/4-inch overall length. The 5/16-24 UNF thread pitch provides fine-thread engagement suited to applications requiring strong clamping force and resistance to vibration loosening. Manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, this fastener delivers solid mechanical strength and moderate corrosion resistance in controlled environments. Machinists, millwrights, and mechanical assemblers commonly install this type of fastener in precision metalwork and mechanical assemblies.
This flat socket cap screw is used in applications where the fastener head must sit flush with or below the mating surface. Typical install scenarios include machine guarding, tooling fixtures, fabricated assemblies, and mechanical components where a protruding head would interfere with clearance or movement. The fine 5/16-24 UNF thread is well suited to metal-on-metal fastening where thread engagement depth and preload consistency are critical. This screw is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 100 units, making it appropriate for shop stock, MRO procurement, and production use.
Designed as a standard UNF flat socket cap screw per ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F835, compatible with any 5/16-24 tapped or through-hole application requiring an 82-degree countersunk flat head.
Installation is performed using a 3/16-inch hex key or hex socket bit driver. Verify the mating surface is countersunk to the correct 82-degree angle before fastening to ensure full head seating and proper load distribution. De-energize or lock out any machinery before performing fastener installation or replacement in mechanical assemblies, in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Avoid over-torquing, which can strip the hex socket or damage threads in softer mating materials.
