The VALUE COLLECTION 20902 is a mechanics-length high-speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and ferrous materials. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on contact and requires less feed pressure than a standard 118-degree point. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute, this short-body geometry delivers added rigidity in tight spaces and close-tolerance work. The oxide finish provides a moderate level of surface protection. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and metal fabricators reach for mechanics-length bits when clearance is limited or when drilling through structural steel, stainless, and cast iron components.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloys, and stainless steel. Its mechanics length makes it a practical choice for underhood automotive work, equipment repair, HVAC bracket fabrication, and general trade shop use where a standard jobber-length bit would flex or chatter. The right-hand spiral cut and web-thinned geometry improve chip evacuation in these tougher ferrous materials.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock mechanics-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight cylindrical shanks. Suitable for drilling carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, and stainless steel workpieces.
This bit is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a standard drill press, hand drill, or drill driver with a keyed or keyless chuck. Secure the workpiece before drilling and apply appropriate cutting fluid when working stainless steel or high alloy materials to manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges before use and replace if chipped or dull to avoid work hardening the workpiece surface.
