The VALUE COLLECTION 204-4000 is an ER40 series collet designed for precision workholding in CNC machining, milling, and turning applications. Sized at 1 inch, this collet delivers a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0005 inches, making it suitable for operations that demand tight concentricity and repeatable tool positioning. ER40 collets are among the most widely used toolholding standards in modern machine shops, valued for their broad clamping range and compatibility with standard ER40 collet chucks. Machinists and toolroom technicians install these collets across a variety of CNC and manual spindle platforms.
This collet is appropriate for production and job-shop environments where consistent tool runout directly affects surface finish and dimensional accuracy. It accommodates 1-inch shank tooling and fits any ER40-compliant collet chuck. Typical applications include end mill retention, reamer holding, and drill chuck setups on vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and lathes equipped with ER40 toolholding systems. The low TIR rating makes it well suited for finishing passes and precision boring work where tool deflection must be minimized.
Designed for use with any ER40-compliant collet chuck. Fits standard ER40 toolholding systems on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and lathes that accept the ER40 collet series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with ER40 toolholding systems. Before installing or removing the collet, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all power is isolated. Seat the collet fully into the chuck nut before threading onto the spindle — never tighten the nut without the collet properly engaged. Use a calibrated torque wrench and follow the chuck manufacturer's specified clamping torque to avoid collet deformation or chuck damage.
