The VALUE COLLECTION 204-3228 is an ER32 series collet designed for use in ER32-compatible collet chucks on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and lathes. It holds workpieces or cutting tools with a nominal bore size of 7/16 inch (0.4374 inches decimal) and delivers a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0005 inches, making it suitable for precision milling, drilling, and reaming operations. The collet conforms to the ER32 standard taper profile, allowing it to seat correctly in any compliant ER32 chuck body. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments will find this collet a direct-fit solution for standard 7/16 inch tooling or round stock.
This collet is appropriate for general-purpose metal cutting and light manufacturing applications where consistent tool grip and low runout are required. It is used with ER32 collet chucks mounted on vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, CNC lathes with live tooling, and manual knee mills. The ER32 series accommodates a wide range of bore sizes, and this 7/16 inch collet fills a common tooling requirement for end mills, drill bits, and reamers of that shank diameter. It is sold individually, making it practical for targeted tooling additions without purchasing a full set.
Designed as a standard ER32-profile collet for use in ER32-compatible collet chucks across CNC and manual machine tool platforms.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before inserting or removing a collet, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck is clear of the work zone. Seat the collet into the collet chuck nut before threading onto the chuck body, following the chuck manufacturer's torque and clamping procedure. Inspect the collet bore and taper surfaces for chips or contamination prior to installation, as debris will negatively affect runout and tool retention.
