The VALUE COLLECTION 204-1620 is an ER16 series collet designed to hold round workpieces and cutting tools in CNC machining centers, milling machines, lathes, and similar rotating spindle equipment. It accepts a nominal 5/16 inch shank, with a precision decimal bore size of 0.3122 inches. Total Indicator Runout (TIR) is rated at 0.0005 inches, providing the close concentricity tolerances required for accurate material removal and consistent tool positioning. This collet is a standard consumable item replaced and serviced by machinists and tool-room technicians as part of routine tooling maintenance.
ER16 collets are widely used in light-duty to medium-duty machining applications where compact spindle size and precise gripping force are required. The ER16 form factor is compatible with ER16-specification collet chucks found on benchtop CNC routers, small vertical machining centers, engraving machines, and Swiss-type lathes. This collet is suited for holding end mills, drill bits, reamers, and other straight-shank tooling within the appropriate clamping range of the ER16 series.
Designed for use with ER16-specification collet chucks on CNC machining centers, milling machines, engravers, and lathes that accept the ER16 collet standard.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle drive before changing collets. Seat the collet fully into the collet nut before threading onto the chuck body, and use the appropriate ER16 collet wrench to tighten to the chuck manufacturer's specification. Inspect the collet bore and chuck taper for chips or contamination before seating to maintain TIR accuracy.
