The VALUE COLLECTION 1944296005800Z4 is a single-ended spotting drill designed to accurately locate and start holes before a standard twist drill follows through. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool seats center-punch-free starter holes with a 120-degree point angle that matches common drill point geometries for minimal walkout. The cutting diameter is 0.625 inches, the overall length is 4.375 inches, and the straight cylindrical shank measures 0.625 inches in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users on manual lathes, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
This spotting drill is suited for general-purpose metalworking applications in job shops, maintenance facilities, and light manufacturing environments. The 120-degree included angle transfers cleanly to the majority of standard twist drills without requiring a separate center drill. With a 1.625-inch flute length and right-hand cutting direction, it clears chips efficiently in short-cycle spotting passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It is sold individually and is appropriate wherever a reliable, no-frills spotting tool is needed for production or repair work.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard drill chucks and straight-shank collet holders accepting a 0.625-inch shank diameter.
A licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician should secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet before beginning any operation. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling per applicable machine safety procedures. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish at the spot location. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as a damaged point will compromise hole location accuracy.
