The VALUE COLLECTION 19442960058000S is a single-ended spotting drill designed to accurately locate and start holes before finish drilling operations. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool features a 118-degree drill point angle optimized for general-purpose spotting on a wide range of workpiece materials. The 0.625-inch cutting diameter and straight cylindrical shank make it straightforward to chuck in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, or manual milling machines. With a 1.125-inch spiral flute length and a right-hand cutting direction, it seats cleanly in a toolholder and produces accurate center spots that guide larger twist drills or boring tools without walking.
This spotting drill is suited for general-purpose machining environments including job shops, maintenance facilities, and production floors where consistent hole placement is required. The right-hand spiral flute configuration clears chips efficiently during spotting passes on steel, aluminum, and similar engineering materials. The 2.25-inch overall length keeps the tool compact enough for use in tight-clearance setups on vertical mills and drill presses. It is installed and used by machinists and maintenance technicians performing layout and hole-starting operations across ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill suitable for use in standard drill chucks, collet holders, and toolholders accepting a 0.625-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Secure the straight shank fully into the drill chuck or collet holder and verify runout before beginning spotting operations. Power down the machine and lock out the spindle drive before installing or removing the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid or dry cutting conditions as recommended for the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the tool when the point shows signs of degradation to maintain accurate hole location.
