The VALUE COLLECTION 1795 is a slotted hex lock nut machined to 1/2-20 UNF thread specifications in Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish. The slotted design accepts a cotter pin or safety wire to prevent loosening under vibration or cyclic loads. At 7/16 inches high with a 3/4-inch width across flats, this nut fits standard 1/2-inch drive tooling and is sized for general-purpose mechanical fastening in HVAC equipment frames, plumbing fixture mounts, and electrical enclosure assemblies. The zinc plating provides baseline corrosion resistance for indoor and light-duty outdoor installations. Sold in a pack of 25.
These lock nuts are suited for trade applications requiring a positive mechanical locking fastener on 1/2-20 UNF threaded fasteners. Typical use cases include securing fan blade assemblies, equipment mounting brackets, pipe hanger rods, and panel components where vibration or thermal cycling could back off a standard nut. The right-hand thread direction matches all standard UNF bolt and stud stock. Grade 2 steel is appropriate for light-to-medium load applications where high-strength alloy hardware is not required.
Designed as a standard replacement or bench-stock slotted hex lock nut for any 1/2-20 UNF threaded fastener application meeting Grade 2 steel load requirements.
Install with a standard 3/4-inch open-end, box, or socket wrench. After torquing to the appropriate value for the joint, align the slots with the cotter pin hole in the mating bolt or stud before inserting the cotter pin or safety wire. Always de-energize or isolate the system being serviced before working on mechanical fasteners in proximity to live electrical components or pressurized lines. Do not use Grade 2 fasteners in high-strength or safety-critical structural joints that specify Grade 5 or Grade 8 hardware.
