The VALUE COLLECTION 172C-3 is an acetylene cutting torch tip designed for oxy-acetylene cutting operations. Tip Number 3 in the cutting tip series, it is rated for material thickness in the 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inch range, making it well suited for structural steel, plate work, and heavy fabrication cuts. Weighing 0.25 pounds, the tip is compact and straightforward to handle. It is installed by welders, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians who perform flame cutting as part of their regular workflow.
This cutting tip is intended for use with acetylene fuel gas in oxy-acetylene torch setups. It is sized for cutting mild steel plate and structural sections in the 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inch thickness range. Typical applications include fabrication shops, scrap processing, structural steel work, pipeline work, and general maintenance cutting where acetylene torches are the standard tool of choice.
Designed for use with Victor torches in standard oxy-acetylene cutting assemblies. Compatible with acetylene gas only. Not intended for use with propane, natural gas, or other fuel gases.
Cutting torch tips are installed and serviced by welders and certified gas equipment technicians. Before changing or inspecting a tip, close both the oxygen and acetylene cylinder valves and bleed the hoses completely. Tip threads should be hand-tightened first and then snugged with the appropriate tip wrench — do not overtighten or use pipe wrenches. Inspect the tip orifice for spatter or damage before lighting, and always follow the torch and regulator manufacturer's lighting and shutdown procedures.
