The VALUE COLLECTION 16678 is a Schedule 80 CPVC reducing coupling designed to connect a 1-inch pipe to a 1/2-inch pipe using slip end connections. Made from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this fitting handles the higher pressure and temperature demands associated with Schedule 80 systems. It is a standard reducing fitting used in pressurized water distribution, chemical handling, and industrial piping systems where a step-down in pipe diameter is required. Plumbers and pipefitters select this coupling when transitioning between two different pipe sizes within a CPVC system.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications as well as industrial process piping where CPVC material is specified for corrosion resistance or elevated temperature tolerance. Slip end connections require solvent cement for a permanent, leak-tight joint. The Schedule 80 wall thickness makes it appropriate for systems operating at higher pressures compared to Schedule 40 installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems with 1-inch by 1/2-inch slip end connections.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working on CPVC piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer on slip connections; do not use PVC cement, as it is not rated for CPVC. Follow local plumbing codes, including IPC requirements, for proper joint cure time before returning the system to pressure.
