The VALUE COLLECTION 1416ABW is a No. 14 hex washer head sheet metal screw designed for fastening light-gauge metal, sheet metal assemblies, and related substrates. It features a Type AB point for self-tapping entry into pre-drilled or punched holes. The screw body is Grade 1016-1024 steel with a zinc-plated finish that provides basic corrosion resistance in dry to mildly humid environments. The hex washer head accepts a hex driver or nut driver, making it a standard choice where positive engagement and a built-in bearing surface are required. Length under head measures 1 inch. This fastener is used by HVAC technicians, sheet metal fabricators, electricians, and general contractors.
This screw is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving ductwork fabrication, electrical enclosure assembly, equipment panels, and general sheet metal joining. The Type AB thread form cuts its own mating thread in thin-gauge metal without requiring a pre-tapped hole, reducing labor in high-volume installations. The hex washer head provides a wider bearing surface than a standard hex head, distributing clamp load across the material face and reducing pull-through risk on thinner gauges.
Designed as a standard Type AB sheet metal screw for use in light-gauge steel ductwork, equipment enclosures, electrical boxes, and similar sheet metal assemblies where a No. 14 hex washer head fastener is specified.
Installation is performed with a hex driver bit or nut driver sized to the hex washer head. Ensure the receiving material is properly supported and that pilot hole diameter matches the No. 14 Type AB thread specification per the fastener manufacturer or applicable sheet metal fabrication standards. Power down or de-energize any electrical enclosure or HVAC equipment before fastening panels or covers. Avoid over-driving, which can strip the self-tapped thread in thin-gauge material.
