The VALUE COLLECTION 13-177 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for production drilling in demanding materials. Built to Series 13 standards, it features a 135-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and improves entry accuracy without a center punch. The 0.1935-inch diameter corresponds to Wire Size 10. Two regular spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. With a straw finish and no coating, the bit is well suited for heavy-duty general-purpose applications. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, sheet-metal workers, and mechanical contractors reach for cobalt bits when carbon steel tooling fails to hold an edge.
This bit is engineered for drilling stainless steel and other hardened materials where standard high-speed steel bits lose cutting geometry quickly. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The 2.4375-inch flute length and 3.625-inch overall length make it a practical choice for general shop use, fixture work, and field service where access depth is not extreme. The double-margin construction keeps the bit tracking true through harder alloys.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in standard three-jaw chuck equipment. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel and hardened materials. Fits any drill press, hand drill, or machining center accepting a 0.2031-inch straight shank.
Cobalt drill bits should be run at slower speeds with steady feed pressure compared to standard HSS bits — consult a speeds-and-feeds reference for the specific workpiece alloy. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent rotation. Apply cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel to extend bit life and reduce work hardening at the cut. Inspect the cutting edges before each use; a dull cobalt bit generates heat that can harden the workpiece and damage the bit.
