The VALUE COLLECTION 1230-4228 is a 5C round collet machined from steel, designed for use in 5C-compatible lathes, collet chucks, and collet blocks. It holds round workpieces securely during turning, milling, and grinding operations. The collet features a 1.041 inch-24 internal thread and a 1.242 inch-20 external thread, providing positive engagement with the spindle nose or closer mechanism. A total indicator runout (TIR) rating of 0.015 mm supports consistent concentricity across production runs. At 0.5 pounds, this is a compact, ready-to-install toolholding component suited for machine shops running 5C spindle equipment.
This collet is intended for use in manual and CNC lathes, rotary indexers, spin fixtures, and collet blocks that accept the 5C collet system. It is commonly installed in job shop and production environments handling round bar stock, shafts, and cylindrical parts up to the collet capacity. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this collet as a direct-fit component in any standard 5C spindle or chuck body.
Designed as a standard 5C round collet replacement or addition for any lathe, collet chuck, collet block, or rotary fixture that accepts the 5C collet system.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Before inserting or removing the collet, power down the machine and ensure the spindle is fully stopped. Clean the spindle bore and collet seat before installation to prevent runout caused by chips or debris. Do not overtighten the closer or draw tube beyond normal hand-snug engagement, as this can damage the collet or spindle threads.
