The VALUE COLLECTION 121034PR is a Grade 8 alloy steel set screw designed for secure, tool-free component locking in mechanical assemblies. The cone point geometry concentrates clamping force into a small area, creating a strong bite into mating surfaces for reliable hold under vibration and torque. Driven with a 5/64 inch hex key, this #8-32 UNC-threaded fastener measures 1/4 inch in overall length and meets ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards. It is well suited for maintenance technicians, millwrights, and assemblers working with shafts, collars, knobs, and set-screw-secured hardware in HVAC equipment, motors, and light mechanical systems.
This set screw is used wherever a headless fastener is required to lock a rotating or stationary component to a shaft or threaded bore. Common applications include securing collars, gears, pulleys, and knobs in residential and commercial HVAC units, fan assemblies, pump assemblies, and general-purpose mechanical equipment. The cone point style is preferred when a permanent or semi-permanent bite into the shaft material is acceptable and maximum holding strength is needed. Sold in minimum order quantities of 100, these fasteners are stocked for shop use, fleet service vehicles, and maintenance operations requiring reliable fastener inventory.
Designed as a standard #8-32 UNC set screw for use in any threaded bore or component that accepts an 8-32 headless fastener with a cone point and hex drive.
Installation is performed with a 5/64 inch hex key; ensure the key is fully seated before applying torque to avoid rounding the drive socket. Power down or de-energize any motor, fan, or rotating assembly before servicing components secured with set screws. Cone point set screws are intended to indent the shaft surface and may make removal more difficult than flat or cup point styles. Follow applicable equipment manufacturer guidelines and general mechanical assembly practices when determining final seating depth.
