The VALUE COLLECTION 121031PR is a Grade 8 alloy steel set screw with a cone point tip and hex socket drive, sized 8-32 UNC thread by 3/16 inches overall length. Set screws in this configuration are used to lock rotating components — such as collars, pulleys, gears, and sprockets — onto shafts by biting the cone point directly into the shaft surface. The 5/64-inch hex drive accepts a standard hex key. Grade 8 alloy steel construction provides the tensile strength needed for high-torque or vibration-prone assemblies. This screw meets ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards.
This set screw is suited for light industrial, mechanical, HVAC, and electromechanical applications where a headless fastener is required to secure a hub or collar to a shaft without protruding above the surface. The cone point digs into the mating shaft, making it well-suited for permanent or semi-permanent installations where the shaft can accept a small indent. Sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces, making it appropriate for shop stock, production line use, or service van inventory.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or shop-stock set screw for any application requiring an 8-32 UNC cone point headless fastener with a 5/64-inch hex drive.
Installation is performed using a 5/64-inch hex key or T-handle driver. Ensure the shaft and collar bore are clean and free of debris before threading the screw. Apply appropriate torque per the assembly specification — do not overtighten, as cone point screws can deform soft shaft materials. Always de-energize and lock out any connected equipment before servicing shaft-mounted components.
