The VALUE COLLECTION 111273PR is a 1/4-28 x 1/2 inch knurled cup point set screw manufactured from Grade 8 alloy steel. Set screws are headless fasteners that thread fully into a tapped hole and bear directly against a mating surface to secure a component — such as a collar, pulley, or gear — to a shaft. The knurled cup point digs into the shaft surface to resist rotation and axial movement without requiring a separate locking element. Drive is 1/8 inch hex (Allen key). This fastener conforms to ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards and is suitable for applications requiring a high-strength, compact locking fastener.
This set screw is used in mechanical assemblies across industrial, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical applications where a flush or recessed fastener is required. Common install scenarios include securing shaft-mounted components on motors, blower wheels, fan hubs, and pump couplings. The 1/4-28 UNF thread pitch provides fine-thread engagement suitable for thinner-walled hubs or applications where precise clamping adjustment is needed. Installation is performed by mechanical technicians or tradespeople using standard hex key tooling.
Designed for use in any tapped 1/4-28 UNF threaded hole requiring a knurled cup point set screw per ASME/ANSI B18.3. Verify thread size and hub material before installation; knurled cup points are best suited for steel and iron shaft materials.
De-energize and lock out any motor or driven equipment before servicing shaft-mounted components secured by set screws. Use a correctly sized 1/8 inch hex key to avoid rounding the drive socket; do not use worn or undersized keys. Ensure the tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading the fastener. Torque to the assembly specification for the application — do not over-drive, as Grade 8 set screws can damage softer shaft materials if excessive force is applied.
