The VALUE COLLECTION 111030009 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SPG422 configuration, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Carrying ANSI insert code SPG422 and ISO insert code SPG120308, this uncoated bright-finish insert features a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 1/8-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The flat-top chip breaker geometry and positive side clearance support clean chip flow in finishing and light roughing operations. Installation and toolholder selection should be matched to grade I22 carbide inserts in SPG-style seats.
This insert is suited for turning operations on non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, superalloys, and cast materials, consistent with its primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and S. The square insert shape and 90-degree included angle provide four usable cutting edges per insert, making it a practical choice for high-volume production environments. Typical applications include external turning, facing, and light contouring where a positive rake geometry improves surface finish on difficult-to-machine materials. Each package contains one insert; the minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed as a direct replacement for SPG422 grade I22 turning inserts; compatible with SPG-style clamp-type toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle square insert. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping system before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and all stored energy released before accessing the turret or toolpost. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can affect insert stability and surface finish. Index or replace the insert when visible flank wear, chipping, or surface finish degradation is observed.
