The VALUE COLLECTION 0572514 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling into stainless steel and hardened materials. It features a 135-degree split point for reduced walking and faster penetration, paired with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, which is critical when drilling tough alloys. At 1.7336 inches overall length with a 0.4728-inch flute length, this bit is compact and suited to close-tolerance drilling work in fabrication and mechanical service environments. Right-hand cutting direction with a straight shank makes it compatible with standard drill chucks.
This bit is built for trade professionals who regularly drill stainless steel, hardened steel, and other difficult ferrous materials. Typical applications include HVAC bracket fabrication, plumbing rough-in through metal framing, electrical panel and enclosure work, and general mechanical assembly. The SG-ESS series is rated for general-purpose production drilling where cobalt construction provides the heat resistance that standard high-speed steel bits cannot deliver in these materials. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 0.4728 inches in a single pass without peck drilling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct addition for general-purpose drilling setups using standard straight-shank drill chucks; primary workpiece materials include stainless steel and hardened metals per Series SG-ESS specifications.
This drill bit is installed by machinists, fabricators, and trade technicians using any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle with a straight-shank chuck. Secure the shank firmly before operation to prevent runout that can chip the cutting edge. When drilling stainless steel, use cutting fluid and controlled feed pressure to prevent work hardening ahead of the bit. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures.
