The VALUE COLLECTION 0204U188 is a No. 2 round head sheet metal screw with a Type U drive point, manufactured from Grade 18-8 stainless steel. This fastener measures 0.25 inches in length under the head and is designed for secure fastening into sheet metal and light-gauge materials. The Type U point style is a blunt, interference-fit press-in design suited for permanent installations where vibration resistance is a priority. Grade 18-8 stainless steel provides corrosion resistance in moderate-exposure environments. This fastener conforms to ASME B18.6.3 and ASME B18.6.4 dimensional standards. It is used by HVAC technicians, sheet metal fabricators, electricians, and plumbers in light-duty metal assembly work.
This screw is appropriate for residential and commercial applications where a small-diameter, short-length fastener is needed to join sheet metal panels, ductwork components, junction box covers, and similar thin-gauge assemblies. The round head profile sits above the work surface and distributes clamping load across the material face, making it suitable where a low-profile or flush fit is not required. Installations in corrosive or high-humidity environments benefit from the stainless steel construction.
Designed as a standard inch-series sheet metal screw for use in light-gauge metal assemblies including HVAC ductwork, electrical enclosures, and general sheet metal fabrication where a No. 2 round head Type U fastener is specified.
Installation is performed with a standard No. 2 slotted or compatible driver bit. The Type U point is designed for press-in insertion and is not intended for removal and reinstallation. Ensure the base material gauge is appropriate for a No. 2 fastener to avoid stripping or pull-through. When working in electrical enclosures or HVAC systems, de-energize or shut down the equipment before fastening operations in accordance with applicable NEC or local code requirements.
