The VALUE COLLECTION 01L20720 is a black steel pipe nipple designed for use in threaded piping systems across plumbing, HVAC, gas distribution, and mechanical piping applications. This nipple measures 2 inches in diameter and 72 inches in length, constructed from Schedule 40 steel with a welded seam. The black finish coating provides standard corrosion resistance suitable for above-ground or dry interior installations. At 36.5 pounds, this is a full-length nipple intended for spans requiring extended pipe runs between fittings. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors select this type of nipple when assembling or extending threaded iron pipe systems in commercial and industrial environments.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial applications including gas supply lines, steam piping, hydronic heating distribution, compressed air systems, and fire suppression rough-in work where Schedule 40 threaded steel pipe is specified. The 72-inch length makes it appropriate for long straight runs where a single continuous threaded section is preferred over multiple shorter nipples and couplings. It is compatible with standard NPT threaded fittings and valves sized for 2-inch pipe.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for standard 2-inch NPT threaded black steel piping systems. Compatible with Schedule 40 malleable iron fittings, black steel couplings, tees, elbows, and valves threaded to 2-inch NPT specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local mechanical and plumbing codes, including IFGC requirements where used on gas lines. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded pipe components. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium before making up threaded connections. Do not over-tighten threaded joints, as this can crack fittings or distort threads.
