The VALUE COLLECTION 01665561 is a taper shank drill bit built for heavy-duty drilling in metal, steel, and similar materials. It accepts a No. 3 Morse Taper (3MT) shank, making it compatible with drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a matching MT3 spindle or sleeve. The cutting diameter is 7/8 inches (0.8750 inches decimal), with a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned tip geometry that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The flute length runs 17 inches and the overall length (OAL) is 24 inches. This bit is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish that provides a baseline level of surface hardness and corrosion resistance for general-purpose shop use.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose drilling operations in machine shop, fabrication, and maintenance environments. The 3MT taper shank provides a self-holding connection in compatible spindles, eliminating the need for a chuck and allowing efficient transfer of torque at larger diameters. The 7/8-inch diameter and 24-inch OAL make this bit particularly useful for deep-hole applications such as drilling through structural members, thick plate, or long workpieces where a standard jobber-length bit would not reach. Installation and use is typically performed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines fitted with a No. 3 Morse Taper spindle or with an appropriate MT3 adapter sleeve. This is a general-purpose HSS taper shank drill bit in the Series 502 product line.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified maintenance personnel. Ensure the machine spindle or sleeve bore is clean and free of chips before seating the taper shank. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the bit. A drill drift is the correct tool for ejecting a Morse Taper shank — never strike the bit body directly. Secure the workpiece properly and select an appropriate feed rate and spindle speed for the material being drilled.
