The VALUE COLLECTION 01551605 is a taper shank drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in metal, steel, and similar ferrous materials. It accepts a 5MT (Morse Taper 5) shank, seating directly into compatible taper-socket spindles on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. The cutting diameter is 1-15/16 inches (1.9375 inches decimal), with a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned tip to reduce thrust at entry. The tool is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish that provides baseline lubrication resistance during cutting. Installation and operation are handled by machinists and tool-room technicians working with production or maintenance drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose drilling applications where a large-diameter hole is required without the need for a separate pilot or step operation. The spiral flute geometry with right-hand cutting direction handles chip evacuation in through-hole and deep-hole applications. The oxide finish is appropriate for dry or mist-lubricated drilling. Typical environments include machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance departments where a 5MT spindle machine is available for large-diameter work.
Designed for use in machine spindles, drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a No. 5 Morse Taper (5MT) socket. Not compatible with standard 3-jaw chucks or straight-shank tool holders.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the taper shank from the spindle socket. Ensure the taper surfaces are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating — debris will prevent full contact and can cause runout or shank slippage under load. Use a drift and drift slot to safely eject the shank; never strike the spindle housing directly.
