The VALUE COLLECTION 01541184 is a taper shank drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in metal, cast iron, and similar materials. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers consistent performance in general-purpose machining applications. The bit features a 1-9/32 inch (1.2813 inch decimal) diameter, a 118-degree standard point angle, and a web-thinned tip geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip clearing at entry. A right-hand spiral flute with a 7.25 inch flute length moves chips efficiently out of the hole. At 13.125 inches overall length, this bit is suited for work requiring extended reach or deep-hole drilling on drill presses and milling machines.
This taper shank drill bit fits machine tool spindles with a No. 4 Morse Taper (4MT) socket, making it compatible with drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a matching taper bore. It is a general-purpose cutting tool used in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians typically reach for this size when drilling large-diameter through holes or stepped bores in ferrous and non-ferrous stock. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model, so surface speeds and feed rates should be managed to control heat buildup during extended cuts.
Designed for use in drill press spindles, lathe tailstocks, and milling machine quills fitted with a No. 4 Morse Taper (4MT) socket. Verify spindle taper designation before installation.
Installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool operator. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the taper shank. Clean both the shank and the spindle taper bore with a lint-free cloth to remove oil and chips before seating; contaminants will reduce holding force and can cause runout. Use a drift key and mallet in the spindle drift slot to break the taper loose for removal — never pry against the flutes.
